There’s no TiviMate for Apple devices, and you don’t need it. Apple hardware uses a different App Store player; once your Moa Tv details are entered, live TV, the programme guide and the film and series library appear exactly as on other screens.
What you need
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| A device | A recently updated iPhone or iPad, an Apple TV 4K, or the older Apple TV HD |
| A player | One that supports Xtream Codes sign-in; because App Store apps appear and disappear, our welcome email names one that works today |
| Your details | The server, username and password listed in the welcome email and under My subscription |
Apple TV: settings worth changing
- Turn on both Match Content options. You’ll find them under Settings → Video and Audio → Match Content. Sport and films then play at their native frame rate without judder, and HDR only kicks in when the programme is HDR.
- Wire it up for big matches. Apple TV models that have a network socket hold a picture better on a cable; the Wi-Fi-only Apple TV 4K is happiest close to the router.
- Type on the phone, not the remote. Many players put a QR code on the TV screen, so the sign-in details can be entered on your iPhone rather than letter by letter with the Siri Remote.
iPhone and iPad
On the move, Wi-Fi is your friend: an hour of HD can eat between one and three gigabytes of mobile data. Remember, too, that the phone is a screen like any other. If your plan covers a single device, stop the TV before starting the phone, or choose two devices when you next renew.
AirPlay to the television
You can AirPlay a channel from an iPhone to an Apple TV or an AirPlay-capable TV. It works, but for an evening of live TV, running the player directly on the Apple TV gives a steadier picture and a proper remote-friendly guide.
Screen-by-screen help for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV is in the iPhone install guide.
Apple device questions
Is TiviMate available for iPhone or Apple TV?
No. Its developer only builds it for Google TV, Android TV and Fire TV, so Apple owners use a different player signed in with their Moa Tv details.
Will I have to pay for the player?
It depends on the app. Several are free; others sell an upgrade, either once or yearly, and that money is paid to the app’s maker rather than to Moa Tv.
Can my Apple TV play the 4K channels?
An Apple TV 4K can, on a 4K TV with a fast, steady connection. The Apple TV HD tops out at 1080p, so choose the non-4K entry of the channel on that model.
