Most Moa Tv channels broadcast in Full HD (1080p), and selected channels, big events and on-demand titles are also offered in 4K (2160p). Whether you actually see 4K depends on four things at home: the TV, the device, the cable between them and your connection.

Full HD1080About 20 MbpsMost living-room TVs

The speed that matters is what reaches the TV, steadily, during the evening. A fast package can still deliver much less through two walls of Wi-Fi.

A 4K checklist

  1. A 4K TV, with the streaming device plugged into an HDMI port that supports 4K. On many TVs only one or two ports do; the label often says 4K or HDR.
  2. A suitable HDMI cable. A Premium High Speed cable, or the one that came with your device, carries 4K reliably.
  3. A 4K streaming device, such as a Fire TV Stick 4K Max with Fire OS, a Google TV Streamer or an NVIDIA Shield. A 4K smart TV’s own apps work too.
  4. The 4K entry of the channel. Where a channel is available in 4K, it appears as its own entry, usually marked 4K or UHD.
  5. About 35 Mbps that holds up during busy hours. Ethernet is best; on Wi-Fi, use the 5 GHz network.

Settings worth checking

  • Display resolution on the device: set it to 4K, or to automatic if the device detects your TV correctly.
  • HDR: leave it on automatic so the device switches only when the content is HDR.
  • Auto frame rate in TiviMate Premium: matches the TV’s refresh rate to the programme, which removes judder in sport and films.

When Full HD is the better choice

A smooth Full HD picture looks better than a 4K stream that keeps pausing. Choose Full HD when the household is sharing a modest connection, when several screens are playing at once or when your device is older. You can switch to the 4K entry another evening without changing anything else.

4K questions

Does 4K cost extra on Moa Tv?

No. Where a 4K stream exists, it is part of every plan.

Why does my 4K picture look soft?

Usually the device is set to a lower resolution, the HDMI port isn’t 4K-capable or the stream has dropped to a lower quality because the connection is busy. Our article on the sharpest Moa Tv picture goes through each cause.

Can I watch 4K on a phone?

The stream will play, but a phone screen is too small to show the difference. Keep 4K for the television.
